Why would you even bother making time stretch each morning?

I mean we’re all living busy life’s and we just don’t have time for this unnecessary extra task, right??

Well I’ve experienced severe pain for over 15 years, waking up each day struggling to get out of bed and trying to get my body upright.  I was in a lot of the pain.  From my ankles feeling like they were pinned together, my knees were like the tin mans from the wizard of Oz and my back, well let’s just say that I can only empathize with what Hunch Back of Notre Dame went through. 

I never thought to make time in my mornings for stretching because, simply, I was too busy.  I had a busy career and children who were up early demanding my attention.  There just seemed to be lots of reasons why I couldn’t make the time do it.  When my condition was at its worst it would sometimes take me more than a month to recovery and get active again.

Benefits of Implementing Morning Stretch

This was until, I learned about the benefits of morning stretching and decided to implement it in my daily routine.

Did you know that stretching in the morning not only increases flexibility in your muscles and joints but it also clears your mind, improves circulation, removes tension in your body that creates stress.

Stretching prevents stress – yes, prevents stress – something we can all benefit from, I’m sure you’ll agree.  Not only does stretching clear your mind by allowing you to focus on your body, it also releases endorphins and these endorphins interact with the receptors in your brain that reduce your perception of pain.   Endorphins also trigger a positive feeling in the body, a kind of “high” if you will.

Whats Stopping You

So, what are you doing each day to kick start your energy levels, your positivity and your well-being?  What reasons or excuse are you using that’s stopping you from doing the things that you already know will help you?

Do you just have too much to do in the morning? Are your children keeping you too busy? I say make the time, include your children – it’s good for them too.  Not only do you get your stretch, look after your body, reduce your stress but you get a few minutes having a bit of fun with your kid(s), teaching them to look after their body and well-being. 

So give it a go, make the time, have some fun and look after yourself.
